Our installation NOCH EIN STÜCK! shows different facets of the Gender Pay Gap. On a set dinner table, white porcelain everyday objects such as plates, cups and cutlery represent figures on social inequalities and the current state of the Gender Pay Gap.
The table evokes associations with hierarchies and traditions. Various topics which contribute to the persistence of the Gender Pay Gap, for example role models, politics, work culture, economy etc. are gathered. The materiality of the porcelain objects reflect the permanence of the status quo, while at the same time being fragile.
In addition to the porcelain objects which depict facts and statistics, a digital experience invites to explore the emotional side of the topic. The corresponding app reflects personal stories and statistics about the Gender Pay Gap.
Although the Gender Pay Gap is slowly narrowing, studies show that if efforts remain the same, equal pay for equal work will not be a reality until 2070.
Our installation, app and Instagram NOCH EIN STÜCK! is a platform for the visibility of women* and aims to raise awareness of the persistence of the Gender Pay Gap.
*women refers to all those who understand themselves as women in terms of their gender identity and want to be perceived as such by others, regardless of their gender assigned at birth
